My Feelings Towards Guild Wars 2 Beta Test and Several Advices
Guild Wars 2 is a MMORG I have been looking forward to for such a long time, I've been admiring and curious about the design of all the professions, the races, the skill system, the dynamic event system and the war under the water. I could not wait to take part in the Beta Tests as soon as I heard that they were available. The game turns out to beyond my expectations in which I really had fun playing.
Except for surprises such as you can design the very exclusive professions, the fun of the war under the water, PvP and WvW in the Guild Wars 2, I also have some advises to Arenanet as from a view of a Beta Test Player and Guild Wars 2 fan.
Firstly, I think the animation need to be developed. While playing the game, I find my character can not move coherently. He may turn around when I do not click to ask him to. Sometimes he moves so slowly as if he got stucked by something, and when my character takes down the monster and try to move it, the picture looks so strange(just as the picture show below), Which definitely decreased the whole feeling of the experiencing the game. We need our character to act flexibly and instantly.
Secondly, I think the voices in the game sounds not so natural, especially the voice of some NPCs. Some are speaking in the way just like a child imitate to talk like his father, or a girl lower her voice to speak like a boy. In some situations like a serious war, prople may talk in a high pitch, which make the scene so funny. I can not deny that dubbings of several characters are very lively, but there are still spaces for Arenanet to make it better on the whole. As the saying goes that No Details No Success.
Thirdly, the font is too small on the screen. Even though I've suffered slight myopia, I keep wearing glasses when I use computers. But while playing Guild Wars 2 in the Beta Test, it is still not easy for me to recognise all the words presented on the screen breezily. As game players like me have to face computers hour after hour every day while playing games, it would be more conciderable if Arenanet agreed to make the words a little bigger.
Lastly, I am going to say something about the WvW map. As the WvW map is so big and complicated, it is not easy for players to get to where they want to go(As we can see from the picture below, the map is on the right bottom of the picture). I suggest Arenanet to separate the map into small parts with obvious marks, or distinguish different areas with some word prompts. So that we do not need to run around the maps feeling lost our ways.
These are my small advices after experiencing the Beta Test. Since there are still two month untill the launch time, Arenanet can totally settle these small issues. I can not wait to experience the final edition of the game, accumulate Guild Wars 2 Gems, buy the most awesome clothes and weapons, and make a history!
